This last spring, potential Kungfu Online players were able to try their hand at MMOG quest design in a contest loaded with prizes. Over 20,000 people entered the contest in an attempt to have their quest included in the game, win a beta account, and even receive a cash prize!
Beijing TengWu, the company behind Kungfu Online, created this contest to show that player driven content can happen large scale in a MMOG. Entrants were required to design an NPC with a background and quest based around this character. Pared down from thousands of entries, the very best will be included in the final release of Kungfu Online this fall.
According to TengWu, gamers will no longer have to dream about what they would do if they could design quests for a game; in Kungfu Online they will be able to realize those dreams!
